The equation of the new graph is g(x) = (1/3)*|x|

For a general function f(x), a vertical stretch of scale factor k is defined by:

g(x) = k*f(x)

if 0 < k < 1, we have a contraction.

if k > 1, we have a dilation.

Here the scale factor is k = 1/3, then we will get:

g(x) = (1/3)*f(x)

Replacing f(x) we will get:

g(x) = (1/3)*|x|
