y = x² + x - 11

Explanation:

note that (f - g)(x) = f(x) - g(x)

f(x) - g(x)

= x² - 9 - (2 - x) ← distribute by - 1

= x² - 9 - 2 + x ← collect like terms

= x² + x - 11
