Answer:

Step 1:

Draw a horizontal line segment on the diagram that divides the polygon into 2 equal-sized trapezoids.

Find the area of one of the trapezoids.

A = 1/2h(b1 + b2) = 1/2· 15 · (41 + 29) = 525 square feet

Step 2:

Both trapezoids are equal in size. Multiply the area of the trapezoid found in Step 1 by 2 to find the total area of the floor plan.

2 · 525 = 1,050 square feet

The area of the floor plan is 1,050 square feet.

Step 3:

Multiply to find how much it will cost to carpet the lobby.

1,050 square feet · $4 per square foot = $4,200.00

It will cost $4,200.00 to carpet the lobby.

Answer:

1302 sq ft

Explanation:

If you were to take both halves of the carpet and place them on top of each other you can see that the two triangle sections would cover each over up and fill in to make a rectangle. So first, lets compute the size of the middle section, then we will compute the size of the end pieces.

The center section of the carpet is 30 ft x 31 ft = 930 sq ft

The ends of the carpet are 12 ft x 15.5 ft = 186 sq ft

Since there are two side to the carpet like this we multiply this by 2

186 * 2 = 372 sq ft

Adding these two values together gives

930 + 372 = 1302 sq ft

thats what i know
