Answer:

x = 2 , y = - 2

Explanation:

8x + y = 14 ......,.......1

3x + y = 4.................2

Use elimination method, we subtract equation 2 from 1, which yields;

5x + 0 = 10

: 5x = 10 : X = 2

Substituting X value in equation 1 we have

8(2) + y = 14

: 16 + y = 14

y = 14 - 16 = - 2

∴ x = 2 , y = - 2

Answer:

The solution of the linear system is:

x = 2 and
y = -2

Explanation:

The following linear equation is solved as follows:

8\cdot x + y = 14

3\cdot x + y = 4

After some algebraic manipulation:

y = 14 - 8\cdot x

y = 4 - 3\cdot x

14 - 8\cdot x = 4 - 3\cdot x

10 = 5\cdot x

5\cdot x = 10

x = 2

And finally,

y = 4 - 3\cdot (2)

y = -2

The solution of the linear system is:

x = 2 and
y = -2
