Factor the coefficent which is just the number parts of these terms.

(800 and 1200)

you find that both have a factor of 400 in common but many other numbers as well. You choose the highest number because you need to find the greatest common factor.

Then, you look at the variables. y is immediately incorrect since one of the terms do not have y. You look at x. Again, you can factor
x^(2) and x^(3) into x*x and x*x*x. Since there can only be 2 x in common, your variable gcf is
x^(2)
