Each french fry costs $1.5 and hamburger $3.75

=================

  • two hamburgers + two French fries = $10.50 ____ equation 1
  • four hamburgers + three French fries = $19.50 _____equation 2

Consider hambugers as "h" and fench fries as "f"

  • 2h + 2f = 10.5 ___ equation 1
  • 4h + 3f = 19.5 ___ equation 2

We can solve them to find the cost of each hambuger and fench fry

Solve for f :

  • (10.5 - 2f)/2 = (19.5 -3f)/4
  • 42 - 8f = 39 -6f
  • -6f + 8f = 42 - 39
  • 2f = 3
  • f = 1.5

Solve for h :

  • h = (10.5 - 2f)/2
  • h = (10.5 - 2(1.5))/2
  • h = 3.75
