The capacity of the gas tank in lona's car is x gallons. She can drive 28 miles per each gallon of gas in the tank. lona filled the tank completely and drove 98 miles. She then stopped and added 2 more gallons of gas. Part A--How many gallons of gas did lona use to drive 98 miles? Part B--Write an equation to figure out how far lona could drive with the gas in her gas tank?

PART A : Lona used 3.5 gallons of gas to drive 98 miles.

PART B : d = g x 28

Explanation:

PART A:

Distance travelled per gallon= 28 miles

Distance she drove = 98 miles

Gallons of gas = 98/28

= 3.5 gallons

For travelling 98 miles she had put 3.5 gallons of gas.

PART B:

let the gas in her car be 'g'

Let the distance she can cover be 'd'

d= g x 28
