Answer:

Mean = 9.8, Median = 10

Explanation:

Given:

Each of 6 student reported the number of movies they saw the past year.

They reported :- 10, 5, 13, 4, 10, 17

We have to find the mean and median of movies that the students.

Solution:

As we know:

Mean =(Sum\ of\ observations)/(Number\ of\ observations)

=(10+5+13+4+10+17)/(6) \\ \\ =(59)/(6) \\ \\= 9.8

Thus, mean of movies that the students saw is 9.8.

Now,

To find median, we will firstly order these number in ascending order.

10, 5, 13, 4, 10, 17

4, 5, 10, 10, 13, 17

Median= ((n+1)/(2))th\ term

=(6+1)/(2) =(7)/(2) = 3.5

Now, Median = 3rd number + 4th number
/ 2

=(10+10)/(2) \\ \\ =(20)/(2) \\ \\ =10

Thus, median of movies that the students saw is 10.
