Given:

Given that the sides of the triangle are 3 inches, 5 inches and 4 inches.

We need to determine the area of the triangle.

Area of the triangle:

The area of triangle can be determined using the formula,

A=(1)/(2)bh

where b is the base of the triangle and h is the height of the triangle.

From the figure, it is obvious that the base of the triangle is 4 inches and the height of the triangle is 3 inches.

Substituting b = 4 and h = 3 in the above formula, we get;

A=(1)/(2)(4)(3)

A=(1)/(2)(12)

A=6

Thus, the area of the triangle is 6 square inches.

Given:

Sides of a triangle are

a = 3 in, b = 4 in and c = 5 in

To find:

The area of the triangle.

Solution:

Using Heron's formula:

$S=(a+b+c)/(2)

$S=(3+4+5)/(2)

S = 6 in

A=√(s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c))

A=√(6(6-3)(6-4)(6-5))

A=√(6(3)(2)(1))

A=√(36)

A=6 in²

Area of a triangle is 6 in².
