a) The total number of ice cream cones sold is 310.

b) The number of Vanilla cones = 114

The number of Chocolate cones = 190

The number of Strawberry cones = 76

Explanation:

The ratio of vanilla to chocolate to strawberry ice cream cones sold is about 3:5:2.

Let us take, 'x' be the common multiple of the ratio given.

⇒ Total number of Vanilla sold = 3x

⇒ Total number of Chocolate sold = 5x

⇒ Total number of Strawberry sold = 2x

a) It is given that,

The number of chocolate ice cream cones were sold = 155

⇒ 5x = 155

⇒ x = 155 / 5

⇒ x = 31

To find the total number of ice cream cones sold :

⇒ Total ice creams sold = 3x + 5x + 2x

Substitute x = 31,

⇒ 3(31) + 5(31) + 2(31)

⇒ 93 +155 + 62

⇒ 310

∴ The total number of ice cream cones sold is 310.

b) It is given that,

A total of 380 ice cream cones were sold.

To find the number of each flavor sold :

⇒ 3x + 5x + 2x = 380

⇒ 10x = 380

⇒ x = 380 / 10

⇒ x = 38

  • The number of Vanilla cone, 3x ⇒ 3 × 38 = 114
  • The number of Chocolate cone, 5x ⇒ 5 × 38 = 190
  • The number of Strawberry cone, 2x ⇒ 2 × 38 = 76
