The perimeter of a rectangle is 64 inches. The width of the rectangle is 5x inches. Find the

length in terms of x.

the length would be 3x and if you put 2(5x + 3x) = 64 so you would distribute so it would be 10x + 6x combined like term 16 divided by 64 = 4

Perimeter, p = 64 inches = 2 (l + w)

width, w = 5x inches

length = l

slot in the value of w in 64 = 2 (l + w)

64 = 2 (l + 5x)

expand

64 = 2l + 10x

64 - 10x = 2l

divide both sides by 2

64 - 10x / 2 = l

length =
(64 - 10x)/(2)
