The British Parliament forced British troops to stay within the homes of the American public mostly under the guise of "protecting them from Indian attacks. However, the colonists mostly believed that they were instead there to monitor the colonist's actions, and to take away their British citizen rights. Tensions continued to escalate as more British troops poured into the Americas, and the British government failed to change their ruling. The Quartering Act was soon repealed, but it had already prompted the start of an Independence.
