Vertical angles are equal, and and 2 are indeed vertical angles. They are the "top" and "bottom" of the x formed. So you can use this.

angle 1 = angle 2

20x + 21 = 30x - 29

50 = 10x

5 = x

So just plug this in.

20x + 21

20(5) + 21

121

30x - 29

30(5) - 29

121

So both are 121.
