Your teacher has asked you to write a narrative essay about an experience with earworms. Which of these is the appropriate and effective introduction for a narrative essay on this topic?

A) Everyone gets a song stuck in their head sometimes. You could be at the gas station or sitting at home and suddenly have music playing in your head. Earworms can strike at any time, but especially when you’re feeling stressed. The best way to avoid them is to try be as calm and peaceful as possible.
B) I have never experienced having a song stuck inside my head, so I must be one of the two percent of the population that does not experience earworms. I cannot recall a time when I have ever had a song stuck in my head that totally distracted me. Sometimes I have a song in my head, but it’s never really a problem.
C) I was sitting in class preparing to take my calculus final when it suddenly invaded my brain. That song that had been playing nonstop on the radio was now repeating in my head. It wasn’t even the whole song playing—just that catchy chorus. As the teacher handed out our tests, I wondered how I would be able to concentrate with the deafening music inside my skull.

D) Bethany doesn’t have problems with earworms anymore. After years of suffering, she’s finally found a way to get rid of them. Bethany explained that the best way to get rid of the earworm is to let it invade your mind. If you tell yourself not to think about, you probably will start focusing on it anyway. The best thing to do is enjoy the music for a little while and it will eventually go away on its own.

Answer Choice C

Step-by-step explanation:

Since you are told to write a narrative essay, so only answer choices C and D are possible.
