Why does a car burn more gasoline traveling in a city than it does traveling on an interstate?

Because on the interstate the car is constantly moving, where as during the city the car is constantly stopping and going, it takes more gas to make the car move from a complete stop than it does to keep the car moving while it’s already in motion.
