√(6y) = √(36+2y)

Let's just solve it then match.

Squaring both sides; may introduce extraneous solutions.

6y = 36 + 2y

Adding -2y to both sides

4y = 36

Dividing both sides by 4

y = 9

Checking

√((6)(9))=√54

√(36+2(9)) = √54, good

Answer:

6y = 36 + 2y by the squaring property of equality

4y = 36 by the subtraction property of equality

y = 9 by the division property of equality
