Answer:

The equation in the slope-intercept form is y = 5x + 7

Explanation:

The slope-intercept form of a linear equation is y = m x + b, where

  • m is the slope of the line
  • b is the y-intercept (y at x = 0)

To put the equation in the form of slope-intercept form, at first separate y in one side and the other terms in the other side, then divide the two sides of the equation by the coefficient of y

∵ The equation is -10x + 2y = 14

- Add 10 x to both side to move x in the right hand side

∴ -10x + 10x + 2y = 10x + 14

∴ 2y = 10x + 14

- Divide both sides by 2 (coefficient of y)

∴ y = 5x + 7

- That means the slope of the line is 5 and the y-intercept is 7

The equation in the slope-intercept form is y = 5x + 7
