(4,-2) are points
(x_1, y_1) respectively and
(1)/(2) is the slope

Point-slope:

y-y_1 = m(x-x_1)

Now you have to replace the variables with numbers

y+2 = (1)/(2)(x-4)

Thus your equation would be:

y+2 = (1)/(2)(x-4)

Hope this helped!

\text{Given that,}\\\\(x_1,y_1) = (4,-2)~~ \text{and slope,}~ m =\frac 12\\\\\text{Point - slope form,}\\\\y-y_1 = m(x-x_1)\\\\\implies y -(-2) = \frac 12(x-4)\\\\\implies y+2=\frac 12(x-4)
