You want these mobile devices to be issued IP addresses, using the last 75 addresses of both scopes, and have a shorter lease time for addresses. What do you propose? Given values:

Wireless mobile devices to be issued are 100.

Total subnets are 2 with 150 unused IP in DHCP scope.

DHCP server automatically assigns the IP addresses to the client devices.

The wireless mobile devices are must be evenly scattered in two subnets.

Divide the wireless mobile devices into two equal parts. First part is associated with first subnet and second part is associated with second subnet.

Now each subnet has a scope of 150 DHCP IP addresses. So, there can be stored the last 75 IP of each subnet for the wireless mobile devices. It is done by DHCP IP reservation configuration.

The above IP addresses are kept for the rigid users so that reserved employees can use the wireless mobile devices and the remaining unreserved IP addresses can be allocated to the guest users which is assigned by the DHCP server.

By doing the above steps, the conflict between fixed users and guest users can be easily controlled.

Set the DHCP lease time for 4 hours.

If the client is not available, then the IP should be released otherwise extend the lease time for next 4 hours for the same IP.

For good traffic handling in a company environment, the lease time should be 4 hours.

This is the reason everyone can efficiently use the subnets and the DHCP server with the enhanced performance
