The quadratic function f (x) = 3 (x – 4)– 6 was translated 5 units left and and 4 units up. Determine the equation of the

transformed function.
O g(x) = 3 (– 1)? +4
O g(x) = 3 (2 – 9)? +2
O g() = 3 (x + 1)2 – 2
O g(x) = 3 (x – 9)2 – 2

  • y=3(x-4)²-6

Translation of 5units left so change in x

  • y=3(x-4+5)²-6
  • y=3(x+1)²-6

4units up so change in y.

  • y=3(x+1)²-6+4
  • y=3(x+1)²-2

Option C

Answer:

  • C. g(x) = 3(x + 1)² - 2

Explanation:

Given function:

  • f(x) = 3(x - 4)² - 6

Translation 5 units left and 4 units up:

  • g(x) = f(x + 5) + 4

Apply the rule to the given function:

  • g(x) = 3(x + 5 - 4)² - 6 + 4 = 3(x + 1)² - 2

Correct choice is C
