The movement of charge is illustrated here. The rod transfers negative charges to the top of the electroscope by conduction. The leaves of the electroscope are charged by induction. There is one fatal flaw in the illustration and it does not accurately portray what happens when charge is transferred. Why?

Answer: C) The amount of + charge must equal the amount of - charge transferred.

Explanation: If the charges are not equal, the object will not be at balance. Charges at balance allow for such things like your hair strands attracting to a balloon after rubbing it on your hair.
