The shingles vaccine should remain effective for 5 years. You will need 2 doses of the vaccine that are given 2 to 6 months apart. It is said that the shingles vaccine gradually becomes less protective over the first 5 to 8 years, a shingles booster has not been approved… yet !

Answer:

Immunity should last anywhere from 5-7 years after receiving the vaccination. You can get the second dose (booster) 2-6 months after the initial vaccination.
