Step 2: Multiply the numerators by the same number that you multiplied the denominators by to find the new numerators. You should get 9/12 + 8/12
Step 3: Add the fractions. You should get 17/12 which equals 1 5/12
Step 4: add the whole number. You should get 9
Step 5: add the whole numbers and the fraction. 9 + 1 5/12. You should end up with 10 5/12.
