Answer: 3/1

Step-by-step explanation: In algebra, we use the word slope to describe how steep a line is and slope can be found using the ratio rise/run between any two points that are on that line.

So for the line you see here, let's use the two bolded points to find its slope. I have labeled these points A and B to make finding the slope a little easier to understand and when you get comfortable with this, you don't need to do it.

To get from point A to point B, we would rise 3 units and run 1 unit.

So the slope of this line or its rise/run is 3/1 or just 3.

The variable that's used to represent slope is m.

So for this line we would say that m = 3/1.

It's important to understand that no matter what two points you choose along this line even if you don't choose the bolded points, the slope or rise/run can always be simplified or reduced to 3/1.
