You have make the -20 to the other side then you divide 20/10=2 -14/4 stays like that same with -7 /2

-14 =-20 y- 7x...Call this A

10y + 4 = 2x......Call this B

Use the substitution method.

Solve B for y and then plug into A.

10y + 4 = 2x

10y = 2x - 4

y = (2x - 4)/10

-14 =-20(2x - 4)/10 - 7x

Solving for x, I get 2.

To find y, plug x = 2 into A or B.

10y + 4 = 2(2)

10y + 4 = 4

10y = 4 - 4

10y = 0

y = 0/10

y = 0

Answer:

x = 2, y = 0
