solve the system :

2x + y = 3 ...(*)

-2y = 14 – 6x ..(**)

use (*) : y = 3-2x

put this value in (**) :

-2(3-2x) = 14-6x

-6+4x = 14 - 6x

10x=20 so : x = 20/10=2

but : y = 3-2x so : y = 3-2(2) = -1
