Use the equation 4x + 10 = 32.

Add 4 to each side of the equation. Tell, in your own words, how you know that the two sides of the equation are still equal.
I dont understand what this means please help

Answer:

You are given that 4x+10=32. This is saying that both sides are the same. Therefore whatever you do to one side of the equation you have to do to the other side in order for it to remain equal.

Explanation:

4x+10=32---> 4x=22----> x=22/4

4x+10+4=32+4----> 4x+14=36----> 4x=22----> x=22/4

In conclusion they are both equal.

Answer:

Both the sides will still equal as same value is added to the both sides i.e 4.

Explanation:

Let us consider the given equation .

4x + 10 = 32

To Check the equality of the equation in both the cases i.e before and after adding 4 to the both sides , find the value of x in both cases.

  • Finding 'x' before adding 4

4x + 10 = 32

4x = 32-10

x=22/4

x= 5.5\\

  • Finding x after adding 4 to both sides

4x + 10 +4 = 32+4

4x + 14 = 36

4x=22

x= 22/4

x=5.5

So, In both the cases the value of 'x' is same which shows that both the sides of a equation are still equal after adding same value to its both sides.
