In 1758, Carolus Linnaeus drew up rules for classifying and naming plants and animals. As science knowledge about living things

has developed, it has been necessary for the two kingdom classification system proposed by Linnaeus, to be changed to
incorporate this new knowledge. The invention of the microscope led to the discovery of microscopic forms of life that did not fit
into the classification system of the time. Advances in technology and scientific knowledge saw a four kingdom classification
system developed and then a five kingdom system. More recent discoveries and developments have resulted in a six kingdom
classification system

In the five kingdom system, the monera or bacteria were distinguished by their prokaryotic cells. Now that kingdom has been divided
into two domains and two kingdoms. Cite evidence that was used to devise this latest classification system,

A The Archaea are ancient bacteria, first formed via endosymbiosis; the
Bacteria are modern-day life forms.

B The Archaea live in extreme, atypical environments and are
chemosynthesizers, the Bacteria are heterotrophs.

C Bacteria have cell walls with peptidoglycan and the Archaea do not; the
Archaea have chloroplasts for photosynthesis.

D Bacteria have cell walls with peptidoglycan and the Archaea do not; the
Archaea live in extreme, atypical environments.

Answer:

the correct answer is D

Step-by-step explanation:

Bacteria have cell walls with peptidoglycan and the Archaea do not; the Archaea live in extreme, atypical environments.

Both biochemical evidence and environmental studies separated the monera into two domains and kingdoms. Both discoveries were the result of new technologies. I hope this helps!!! :)
