y + 9 + 7(y + 9)...first we have to get rid of those parenthesis. we can do this by distributing the 7 thru the parenthesis.

y + 9 + 7y + 63

now lets gather our like terms..

y + 7y = 8y

63 + 9 = 72

so we have : 8y + 72 <===
