Explanation:

a) 2y = 3x + 4

b) given the perpendicular

3x + 5y = 1

5y = 1 - 3x

y = 1/5 - 3x/5

m¹ = -3/5

perpendicular

m¹m² = -1

-3m²/5 = -1

m² = 5/3

so (1,8)

x¹ = 1 y¹ = 8

m² = (y - y¹)/(x - x¹)

5/3 = (y - 8)/(x - 1)

5x - 5 = 3y - 24

3y - 5x + 5 - 24 = 0

3y = 19 + 5x
