Therefore the equation of the required line is
x+y= 20

Explanation:

Given,

a line passes through the point (6,14) and is parallel to the line y =-x-1.

The slope of the given line is -1. [ the coefficient of x]

Since the required line parallel to the given line.

So, the slope of required line is = -1

The equation of line which passes through the point
(x_1,y_1) and slope is m is
y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

Therefore the equation of the required line is

y - 14= -1(x-6)

\Leftrightarrow y -14 = -x+6

\Leftrightarrow x+y= 20
