(f +g)(2) = 10

Solution:

Given f(x) = –4x

g(x) = 3x + 12

Let us first find f(2) and g(2).

Substitute x = 2 in f(2) and g(2).

f(2) = –4 × 2 = –8

g(2) = (3 × 2) + 12 = 18

Let us find (f + g)(2).

(f + g)(2) means adding combination of two functions.

(f +g)(2) = f(2) + g(2)

= –8 + 18

= 10

(f +g)(2) = 10

Hence, (f +g)(2) = 10.
