Briefly describe the difference between a genomic and a cDNA library, and list at least one major advantage and disadvantage of using each.

Draw a diagram and provide a brief explanation that depicts how the Cre-Lox system works. Make up your own gene and gene function to describe how this would work in an organism.

Answer:

Genomic library: A genomic library can be described as the collection of all the genome that a particular organism possesses. In the genomic library, different vectors has parts of the genome of the organism.

Advantage: One major advantage of genomic library is top down sequencing.

cDNA library: A cDNA library is made by clones of cDNA of a particular organism introduced into host cell. Each host cell has a specific part of the organisms cDNA which combine to form the complete cDNA.

Advantage: homologous genes can be isolated easily through cDNA.
