Replace the variable y with x−3 in the expression.

x−(x−3)

REMOVE PARENTHESIS

x−x−−3

Multiply -1 by −3.

x−x+3

Subtract x from x.

0+3

Add 0 and 3.

Evaluate the function.

y=x−3=

x−y=x−y
