The first stage of the giant Saturn V rocket reached a speed of 2405 m/s at 168 s after liftoff. a. What was the average acceleration in m/s/s? (Enter the magnitude.) b. The acceleration of a falling object if air resistance is negligible is 9.8 m/s/s, called "one g." What was the average acceleration in g's? (Enter the magnitude.)

The theory concerning the kinematic movement tells us that acceleration can be expressed as the change of speed in a finished time, that is, mathematically it can be described as,

a = (\Delta v)/(t)

Here,

\Delta v= Change in velocity (Initial and final)

t = time

If the body starts from rest, its initial velocity will be zero and its final velocity will be that given in the statement, therefore:

a = (2405-0)/(168)

a = 14.315m/s^2

Now realizing the conversion of units to 'g' we have to

a = (14.315m/s^2 )(1g)/(9.8m/s^2)

a = 1.46g
