Your precocious five year old brings in her new toy, which is a glaring red plastic machine. There is a lever marked INPUT and a claw labeled OUTPUT. You are told that moving INPUT caused OUTPUT to move only 1/10 as far. On the other hand OUTPUT claws eight times as hard as INPUT is pushed. What is the % efficiency?

The percentage efficiency would be sixteen.

Step-by-step explanation:

A lever is a simple machine. It consists of a beam or rigid rod pivoted at a fixed hinge or a fulcrum. A lever is a rigid body which has the capability to rotate on a point on itself.

A lever amplifies an input force to provide a greater output force which is said to provide leverage. The ratio of the input force to the output force is known as the mechanical advantage of the lever. As such, lever is a mechanical advantage device, which trades off force against the movement.
