Payton should use
(4)/(5) of bags in each pot

Solution:

Given that, Payton has 4 bags of potting soil

She has to put the same fraction in each of her 5 pots

To find: Fraction that should be used by Payton

From given question,

Total number of bags = 4

Number of pots = 5

To find, fraction of bag she should put in 1 pot, we have to divide the total number of bags by number of pots

fraction of bag she should put in 1 pot = Total no. of bags
/ no. of pots

\text{ fraction} = \frac{\text{ total number of bags }}{ \text{ number of pots }}

\text{ fraction } = (4)/(5)

Thus payton should use
(4)/(5) of bags in each pot
