Larry, Camille, and Simone are keeping track of how far they walk each day. At the end of the week they combined their distances and found that they walked 34 miles in total l. They also learned that Camille walked twice as far as Larry, and that Larry walked 2 more miles than Simone. How far did each person walk

The distance walked by Larry is 9 miles and Camille is 18 miles and Simone is 7 miles

Solution:

Let "x" be the distance walked by Larry

Let "y" be the distance walked by Camille

Let "z" be the distance walked by Simone

At the end of the week they combined their distances and found that they walked 34 miles in total

Total distance = 34 miles

Therefore, we can say,

x + y + z = 34 ---------- eqn 1

Camille walked twice as far as Larry

distance walked by Camille = 2(distance walked by Larry)

y = 2x ---------- eqn 2

Larry walked 2 more miles than Simone

distance walked by Larry = 2 + distance walked by Simone

x = 2 + z

z = x - 2 ------- eqn 3

Substitute eqn 2 and eqn 3 in eqn 1

x + 2x + x - 2 = 34

4x - 2 = 34

4x = 34 + 2

4x = 36

x = 9

Substitute x = 9 in eqn 2

y = 2(9) = 18

y = 18

Substitute x = 9 in eqn 3

z = 9 - 2

z = 7

Thus distance walked by Larry is 9 miles and Camille is 18 miles and Simone is 7 miles
