Explanation:

If you want to solve this equation by substitution then you have to put the second equation in, so it will look something like this

5x + 1(2-3x)=16

Apply distributive property to solve.

Once you find x, plug it in to find y

To double check your work, you can plug the coordinated values back in

-19 = 2 - 3(7)

-19 = 2-21

This is true, so our solution is correct.
