A room has dimensions 6.8m x 9.2m. Steven wants to paint the walls of the room. A large tin of paint covers 20m^2 and cost £11.75. Ignoring windows and doors, and allowing for 2 coats of paint, how much will it cost Steven to paint the room.

Given as :

The length of the room = L = 6.8 meters

The breadth of the room = B = 9.2 meters

The cost of paint to cover 20 meters² area = 11.75 pounds

Let The cost painting the room = x pounds

Now, According to question

The Area of rectangular room = Length × breadth

Or, Area = L×B

Or, A = 6.8 meters × 9.2 meters

Or, Area = 62.56 meters²

∵ cost of paint to cover 20 meters² area = 11.75 pounds

∴ cost of paint to cover 62.56 meters² area =
(11.75)/(20) × 62.56 pounds

Or, x = 0.5875 × 62.56 pounds

Or, x = 36.754 pounds

So, cost painting the room = x = 36.754 pounds

Now, Since 2 coats of paints is allowed in the room

And The cost of 1 coats of paints = 36.754 pounds

So, The cost of 2 coats of paints = 36.754 × 2 pounds

i.e The cost of 2 coats of paints = 73.508 pounds
