What two effects did the expansion of railroads have in Texas?

The arrival of railroads greatly affected Texas. New cities were born, new areas were settled, and Texas became more connected to the rest of the country. Farm goods raised in Texas could be shipped out of state more easily, and goods produced elsewhere could be purchased in Texas.
