By using Pythagorean theorem for 1 of right triangle, we have


√(74) ^(2) =
7^(2) +
((x)/(2)) ^(2)

74 = 49 +
(x^(2))/(4)

74 - 49 =
(x^(2))/(4)

25 =
(x^(2))/(4)

therefore, x =
√(25*4) =
√(100) = 10
