Jimmy’s family moved to a tropical climate. For the year that followed, he recorded the number of days that had a temperature above 40 degrees C each month. His data contained -

14, 14, 10, 12, 11, 13, 11, 11, 14, 10, 13 and 8

5) If, instead, there are 2 more days per month that had a temperature above 40 degrees C, what will be the mode for the data? =

Answer:

13 and 16

Explanation:

Mode is the value that appears most frequently in a data set.

Now, our mode, before the question 5, is 11 and 14, both having 3.

However, if we add two more days per month that have a temp above 40*, the mode will change.

The phrase "two more days per month" means that(if I understood correclty) there should be +2 for each value, so 14 is 16, 10 is 12, etc.

However, the amount of numbers doesn't change. Just because the 14 is now a 16 doesn't mean that there are more 16's. So, the numbers still stay the same.

The mode will still be 11 and 14, but just with 2 added.

11+2

14+2

The new modes will be 13 and 16.

Let me know if I'm correct!
