1. A number is as much greater than 21 as it is less than 71. Find the number

Solution -

Let the number be x.

  • x - 21 (number is as much greater than 21)
  • 71 - x (it is less than 71)

As both the value of x - 21 and 71 - x is same hence,

=> x - 21 = 71 - x

=> x + x = 71 + 21

=> 2x = 92

=> x = 92/2

=> x = 46

Hence, the number is 46.

2. Find 2 consecutive natural number whose sum is 63.

Let the two consecutive numbers be x and x + 1.

=> x + (x + 1) = 63 (A.T.Q)

=> x + x + 1 = 63

=> 2x = 63 - 1

=> 2x = 62

=> x =62/2

=> x = 31

Hence, the consecutive natural numbers whose sum is 63 are 31 and 32.
