Explanation:

what is the standard form for your teacher ?

because that is absolutely not agreed on worldwide (and even between teacher and teacher in the same region).

there are 2 main forms :

the general slope intercept form is

y = ax + b

a is the slope. and is here -4.

b is the y-intercept (the point, where the line crosses the y-axis, meaning the y value when x=0).

we get b by using the point coordinates in the half finished equation :

4 = -4×6 + b = -24 + b

28 = b

so, the equation is

y = -4x + 28

the general slope point form is

y - y1 = a(x - x1)

where a (often called m) is again the slope, and x1, y1 are the coordinates of a given point.

so, we have

y - 4 = -4(x - 6)
