Here’s an example

1/4 1/8

=1/2 (nearest 1/2)

1/4 ≤ 1/4 ≤ 3/4 so round it to 1/2.
1/8 < 1/4 so round it to 0.

Estimating:
1/2 + 0 = 1/2
