The volume of a gas varies inversely as the pressure upon it. The volume of a gas is 1600 cm3 under a pressure of 4 kg/2. What will be its volume under a pressure of 640 kg/cm2?

by introducing a constant k

v = k\p

making k subject of the formula

k= vp

k= 1600×4

k=6400

to find the second volume

k=vp

6400=v×640

v=6400\640

v=10cm3
