Nadine wants to convince her school to provide the students with an extra playground.

Suppose the school is willing to spend $300 which allows them to build a playground in the
shape of an equilateral triangle of sides (4x-8) cm. If a perimeter of 1 cm costs $1, what
would the side of the playground have to be given the budget of the school?

Answer:

The school would have to give $300 and each side would be 100cm

Explanation:

(4x - 8)cm = Side length

Solve for X

3(4x - 8) = 300

(Getting rid of the three)

(12x -24) = 300

(Getting rid of the 24)

(12x) = 324

(Getting rid of the 12)

(12x/12) = 324/12

X = 27

27 x 4

Side length = (108 - 8)

108 - 8 = 100cm

100 x 3 = 300cm (1cm = $1)

$300

Each Side would be 100cm
