Answer:

First mechanic: $65.

Second mechanic: $60.

Explanation:

Let the rates be x for the first mechanic and y for the second.

x + y = 125

10x + 5y = 950

Multiply first equation by - 5

-5x - 5y = -625

Adding the last 2 equations:

5x = 325

x = 65

y = 125-65 = 60 .
