Give a set of 5 items of data that has a mode and median of 54 and a mean of 57.

We need five data items. The middle one needs to be 54, and the average needs to be 57. There also needs to be more than one 54 because that is also the mode.

Okay, so first multiply 57 by 5, because we need to find the total sum using the average. 57 * 5 = 285

That means that our five numbers need to equal 285 as well so they can have the same average.

53, 54, 54, 61, 63 is one way

50, 52, 54, 54, 75 another ect

We just take the average times the number total, subtract the numbers we already know (54 and 54) and then find three other numbers that also equal 285.
